| Since it's been about 6 months, I'm probably due for an update. Summer was crazy studying for the MCAT and not getting much time to hang out with friends and relax. So here we are, and school starts tomorrow with me feeling like I never had any time off in the first place. Luckily band is reduced to only 2 hour practices now--about the only thing positive about school starting. Band is going pretty well so far. We have a pretty sweet row this year and good rookies. In other news I had my 21st birthday last Thursday. I've pretty much been celebrating it in various fashions for the past 6 days, so that's been cool. Tonight I'm off to Lindey's with Greg for my birthday dinner. Should be a good time. | | |
| Happy thoughts:
1) No school for a week.
2) No more biochem.
3) No more 7:30 a.m. classes.
4) Sandals.
5) Relaxing in Cincy where the glacier did not flatten the terrain like the rest of OH.

| I'm at home for the weekend for the first time since Christmas break.
It's good to see the place, my parents, the pets, etc. Kristen should
be joining us tomorrow as the maple syrup making commences. It's nice
to get out of the city and return to country living and some fresh air.
I'm just so used to the hustle-bustle of Columbus, though, that it's
hard to adjust to for just a weekend.
Classes have been going
alright I guess. I'm not that motivated this quarter really. I think a
lot of it has to do with the fact that it's just winter and I dread
hauling myself across our seemingly endless campus to go to class. I
have one midterm left for the entire quarter, and that's this Friday.
Then I should probably start working on final lab reports and catching
up on reading in all my classes.
Oh, and I start applying to med schools this summer. I'll have more time to talk in September. | | |
| I haven't written in a while. I am still alive, slowly being killed by midterms, though. I just took my last midterm this week which means I have 1 whole week before I am struck by another one. After making some money and sleeping, I may be revitalized enough to update. | | |
| First of all, new picture. The band dance has long been over, calling
for an updated picture. It's from the metro in D.C. and the resemblance
between me and Kristen is quite remarkable. When I find a picture of
her that's suitable, I'll do a side by side and post it for your
viewing pleasure.
D.C. was a good time. It wasn't the most fun
trip, but I didn't expect it to be so there were no let downs. I'm glad
I went because it was a unique experience. I've never experienced so
much security...going through checks at the Pentagon, seeing snipers
during the parade, it was pretty cool. The bus rides back and forth
didn't seem to take too long, thanks to movies and sleeping. Our day of
sightseeing could've been a little better. The Capitol tour ranks up
there on the list of dumb things I've done. It was also like -10
degrees outside, so walking up and down the Mall was not the most
desirable activity. We got to see the new WWII Memorial, Museum of
American History, and Museum of Natural History. I also got to meet up
with Emily. Then we had to perform at the Ohio Inaugural Gala in the
Air and Space Museum. Thursday was filled with waiting for the parade
to begin in the cold. During the parade I did get to see all the
bigwigs as we passed the reviewing stand, so that was sorta cool. Now
I've got tons of stuff to catch up on for school which makes me
sometimes look back and wonder if I made the best decision. I'm sure I
did though, cause how many people even get the chance to march in an
Inaugural Parade? This was a once in a lifetime opportunity, and
something I am proud to say I participated in.
This is a pretty
busy week for me, but hopefully if I work insanely hard the whole week,
I won't still be feeling the effects of the trip by the weekend. In my
opinion, better to do all the work in a condensed amount of time rather
than spread out over the next few weeks.
In other news, my
good good friend Carrie got engaged this past week. I'm very happy for
her. It is crazy though to see all these people my age getting engaged
when I feel so young and can't even imagine getting married any time
soon.
